Minister Lucas must accept responsibility for the Queensland Health payroll fiasco
Under a failure of public administration unprecedented in Queensland’s history, thousands of public sector workers in Queensland Health have been incorrectly paid, some for weeks on end, and continue to be incorrectly paid every fortnight.
The QPSU has been working with other unions, the Industrial Relations Commission and Queensland Health
to try to ensure that workers are paid correctly but it is clear that there is no quick fix to this pay crisis and that some workers may continue to be incorrectly paid past Christmas.
Make no mistake: this is a monumental failure by Queensland Health’s highest leadership, without precedent in our state’s history. With a crisis this big, a resignation btcy Minister Lucas is simply the most appropriate response.
Visit www.standupstepdown.com and join the call for Minister Lucas to resign.
Under Queensland’s Westminster system of government, it is government ministers as elected politicians who are responsible for when something goes wrong that affects the workers in their department.
It is up to us as Queensland public sector workers and members of the community to hold our ministers accountable.
If there ever was a time when a government minister should accept responsibility and resign for a stuff-up, this is it.
As union members, can make sure that Minister Lucas does the right thing by Queensland Health staff and resigns – if we can recruit our family and friends to the cause.
Sign up at www.standupstepdown.com today, and ask your family and friends to join with us as we demand that Minister Lucas accept the responsibility for this failure.
