Custodial corrections agreement win
Congratulations to Custodial Corrections officers on securing a new collective agreement, including a 4.5% pay increase and other improvements.
Given that the government’s ballot of employees has also endorsed the agreement, it has been brought to the Industrial Relations Commission where it was certified. The provisions will take immediate effect..
Given that the government’s ballot of employees has also endorsed the agreement, the draft agreement can now be brought to the Industrial Relations Commission where it will be certified. It will come into effect from 1 April 2010, after the expiry of the current agreement.
This agreement has come about because Custodial Corrections officers have been unafraid to stand together and build a better working environment for our state’s Correctional facilities.
Because QPSU members have been active in leading negotiations with the government, the agreement includes the 2009 wages policy of a 4.5% per year increase rather than that of 2.5% which is the government’s position for collective agreements in 2010 onwards.
